Dr. David Tomlinson
Dr. Tomlinson was an Academic All-American at MIT receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine training in the US Navy and has spent the last 20 years working to improve newborn male circumcision care in the US and the World. He led the international team of physicians and engineers that developed the Minimally Invasive AccuCirc®.
As a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Brown University, Dr. Tomlinson has been a consultant to the World Health Organization, National Institute of Health, and Gates Foundation and developed newborn male circumcision training programs in Nigeria, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Kenya. He has been a staff physician at South County Hospital for the past 20 years and was named Physician of the Year and awarded the degree of Fellow from the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2015.
Dr. Tomlinson has been an invited speaker for grand rounds at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Women and Infant’s Hospital, Wayne State University and was the recipient of the Albert Rosenthal Memorial Lecture Speaker Award. He wrote the surgical chapters for the World Health Organization’s manual on early infant male circumcision. He continues to help develop, implement, and evaluate newborn male circumcision programs in various resource-limited areas for the purpose of HIV prevention.
